Ministry of Environmental Protection: The enterprises in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the surrounding areas that can not be upgraded to meet the standard of discharge should be closed before the end of September.

Beijing, July 15 news from the Voice of China "news and newspaper summary": Ministry of Environmental Protection yesterday informed that as of the end of June Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the surrounding areas of 28 cities have been verified 176,000 polluting the environment. The enterprises that can not be upgraded to meet the standard of discharge should be closed before the end of September.

Tian Weiyong from Ministry of Environmental Protection Environmental Supervision Secretary informed: Since the control and supervision on the air pollution in Beijing - Tianjin - Hebei and the surrounding areas have been carried out for three months, the inspection team has checked more than 32,000 companies. Among them more than 20,000 enterprises have illegal environmental problems. That is more than 64%, especially the problem of incomplete facilities for the pollution control and other illegal problems.

Tian Weiyong: We require that the not upgraded enterprise will be banned off. To the winter if we find such problems, not only to strictly deal with enterprises, but also to the local government. The economic, social activities and law-abiding enterprises will not be affected in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and surrounding areas. The enterprises without procedures, control facilities and meeting standard should not exist.

At present, the Ministry of Environmental Protection is also engaged in the fight against the illegal activities to the environment of the enterprises which utilize and process the imported waste. So far, 349 enterprises have been investigated due to illegal environmental issues.
